Gozaisho Ropeway (video)

Gozaisho might not be the biggest of mountains, standing at a humble 1212meters, but because it has Japan’s oldest cable car, the Gozaisho Ropeway, opened in 1959, it attracts a steady stream of tourists, some coming for the snow in the winter, or a cool retreat in the summer.

I took a little trip with my dad and daughter, the sun was shining, the snow was sludgy and the food was edible but expensive. Riding the cable car only takes around 15 minutes each way but costs 2160yen for a round trip, or if you fancy a three hour hike…you can always walk. It was a great day out though, fun for all the family!
